Configuration Form / Server Setup / Configuration
On the "Configuration" tab of the server setup page you can configure the news server to use. The fields are:
Name
Shorthand name for the server you wish to use. For example, if the hostname of the server is news.myserver.com, you can set the name to "MyServer", for example. This name will be visible in the treeview control on the left side of the configuration window, and the first couple of letters of the name will be displayed on Group List window and Article List windows.
Host
Hostname or IP address of the news server, for example "news.myserver.com" or "123.123.123.123". Note that you can not change the server host address after you have created a new server configuration. If you have made a mistake in the host address, you need to delete the server and then create it again. You also need to close all the article list windows before recreating the server configuration.
Port
Port address of the server. This is most likely 119, which is the standard NNTP protocol number that news servers use.
Server needs authentication
Check this box if the server requires you to log on (giving a username and password). Otherwise leave it unchecked.
Username
If the server needs authentication, type your username for the server here.
Password
If the server needs authentication, type your password here.
All the settings are saved automatically immediately after you make the changes.
With the buttons you can either Connect to the server (or Disconnect if you are already connected) or Remove this server. Note that you can not remove a server if there are any newsgroup windows open.
