Configuration Form

The configuration window is used, as the name implies, to configure BNR. The window consists of three major parts:

Selection TreeView

The selection treeview, located on the left side of the configuration window, is used to select the item to be configured. When you select an item in the treeview, the contents of the right side of the window change to reflect the currently selected item, similarly the buttons on the bottom of the configuration window change to reflect what you can do with the currently selected item.

When you run BNR for the first time, the treeview contains only two items, "Configuration" and "Newsgroups". When you click on the "Configuration" item, you can create a new server by clicking on the "New Server" button, located at the bottom of the window.

See Server Setup about how to setup the new server.

Configuration Tabs

This part of the configuration window is where the actual configuration takes place. It consists of several tab sheets. When you change the top level tab, the selected item changes on the selection treeview as well. The toplevel tabs are:

Configuration (consisting of General and Key Shortcuts)

Server Setup

Newsgroups

Group Setup

Buttons

On the bottom of the window are some buttons which are used to perform actions on the current item on the treeview. The buttons perform different actions depending on the currently selected item in the treeview.

Configuration level has buttons for Pause/Resume, New Server and Help. With Pause you can disconnect all servers at once, with Resume you can resume the paused servers. With New Server you can create a new server (this is only possible when you have no newsgroups open).

Server level has buttons for Connect/Disconnect, Remove and Help. With Connect you can connect to this server, with Disconnect you can close the connection, and Remove removes this server from your list of servers.

Newsgroups level has buttons for Open (not currently enabled), Subscribe and Help. With Subscribe you can add this newsgroup to the list of subscribed newsgroups.

Newsgroup level has buttons for Open, Unsubscribe and Help. With Open you can open this newsgroup, and with Unsubscribe you can remove this newsgroup from your list of subscribed newsgroups.
